It is the third time I come to Beijing, the capital city of China. But it is the first time I come in winter and plan to spend the whole vacation in this city.
One of the most frequent asked questions is “Is there any difference since you left 2 years ago?” If you had lived in China for some time, you will know this is not really a question. What they really want to hear is the fact that you agree with them, and that make them satisfied.
My young Chinese friend seemed to be proud of the development of the whole country. Two years ago they would like to talk to talk about the stock market, even I was just a tourist by then, I was treated like the Nobel winner, wherever I went, one of the questions waiting is definitely this “What is your opinion about the Chinese stock market?” And that is a question I do not have a single clue of opinion.
Now my friends like to talk about the GDP growth of China. “Due to the financial crisis, China is the only country which keeps its growth and contributes a lot to the world economy.” President Kennedy must like this country. It seemed no one in this country asked what the country did for them but eager to contribute their part to the country.
But as time went by, I did see quite a few young Chinese stands up and express their view. This time I was asked “What is your view towards global warming?” As a tourist, I have no answer to that question. So far as I am concerned, Beijing is freezing cold. My friend who lived in Beijing for the last 8 years also said this is coolest winter he ever experienced in China.
But it is cool to have my adventure back in China, it is time to have fun after a hard year. I bet I have seen more Christmas trees here than back in New York. And I am about to ski in the nearby county.
